West Grand School District has announced the October Intern of the Month, Lydia Johnson. She is serving as an intern for school district nurse Chelsea Gaines.
Johnson assists Nurse Gaines with hearing and sight screening, and helps when students arrive at the office with symptoms, said Andrew Mericle, West Grand’s college and career coordinator.
“The most prominent Profile of a Learner trait (Johnson) demonstrates is being Inquisitive. She stated that she is always able to get answers from Nurse Gaines,” stated Mericle.
Gaines also gives assignments that prompt Johnson to practice critical thinking and sound communication. Johnson believes that her internship will be of great value on her nursing pathway journey.
