A different juvenile suspect is now charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy at Rotella Park, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said in a news release Friday.

The DA’s office amended charges against the teenager who was initially arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder after “new evidence… came to light after the filing decision was made,” officials said in a news release.

That teenager is now charged with possession of a handgun by a juvenile, a misdemeanor.

The new juvenile suspect is charged with first-degree murder, six counts of first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

The DA’s office cannot release any other details about the case or suspects because they are juveniles, according to the release.

Adams County sheriff’s deputies responded to the park at 1824 Coronado Pkwy. near Welby at 11:18 p.m. on Oct. 12 and found Ricardo Alonzo Elgueta Fuentes dead from a gunshot wound to the neck and a second teenager who had been shot in the leg.
