DENVER (KDVR) — Denver police arrested two people in connection to a shooting on southbound Interstate 25, near the 4800 block of South Quebec Street, the agency announced Wednesday.

Denver police officers responded to the shooting at about 3:12 a.m. on Oct. 18. The shooting resulted in two people injured with non-life-threatening injuries. The pair, who were identified as adult males, were transported to local hospitals after the shooting.

The Belleview Regional Transportation District light rail station is located in the 4800 block of South Quebec Street, which borders I-25. Denver police said the shooting occurred along a stretch of southbound I-25 south of Colorado Boulevard, where the two victims were traveling in a vehicle when the shooting occurred.

Eventually, the victims stopped on the shoulder of I-25 north of Belleview Avenue. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.

However, police identified two suspects. Police said Burr Charlesworth, 42, was arrested on Oct. 19, and Luis Mendoza, 35, was arrested on Oct. 22. Both are being held for investigation of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

Because the case is still under investigation, the arrest affidavits will remain sealed. Further suspects may be identified in this case, police said.
