Colorado weather: Denver to see its first snow of the season Wednesday, 2 feet possible in the mountains

A snowstorm expected to arrive in the mountains on Tuesday will move into the metro Wednesday morning, potentially showering Denver with its first snow of the season, according to the National Weather Service.
NWS forecasters said any snow that falls in the Denver area this week isn’t likely to stick. Less than an inch of accumulation is expected.
“Light snow will be possible along the Front Range and over the plains Wednesday morning,” NWS meteorologists said in a hazardous weather outlook.
By the time the storm wraps up Wednesday night, mountain passes and higher-elevation areas in Colorado could see more than 2 feet of fresh snow, according to NWS forecasters.
Between 18 and 26 inches of snow are forecast to fall on Schofield Pass and Chair Mountain in the Rocky Mountains near Marble, according to NWS. Mountain passes in southern Colorado’s San Juan Mountains could also see up to 18 inches of snow.
No snow is expected to fall on Halloween, but overnight freezing temperatures could make conditions rough for trick-or-treaters in both the mountains and the metro.
